Accounting Assistant - John Deere Dealer

Performs clerical accounting duties including routine and non-recurring calculations, reconciliations, verifications, and postings while ensuring accuracy and validity in the accounting processes.


  • Monitor the daily cash deposit reports from the Kenn-Feld Group locations.
  • Report any significant discrepancies or trends to the CFO. Assists with accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls.
  • Monitor warranty credits with vendor statements.
  • Monitor credit card daily settlements and John Deere Financial revolving daily settlements.
  • Reconcile applicable John Deere accounts in the general ledger (John Deere statements, rentals, reserve accounts, etc.)
  • Analyze company operations to identify opportunities for reduction of expenses.
  • Help Kenn-Feld Group support staff (e.g., Service Writers, Accounting Staff, Parts Staff) in proper procedures relative to Kenn-Feld business and information systems.
  • Verifies accuracy of information used in select accounting transactions such as researching incorrect information, determining the proper accounting treatment, and recommending corrections to the transaction originator.
  • Analyzes and process documents after examining for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicates with others in the organization to answer accounting questions or resolve issues.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities as recommended by the Director of Finance or the CFO.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as requested.

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude and reliable
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Understands accounting fundamentals such as debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgets.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The skills to handle stress, negotiate, solve problems, and manage conflict preferable.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends as scheduled.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an administrative accounting position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Degree in an Accounting/Finance discipline preferred.
